Two Important Facts to Know About Duct Cleaning:

The National Air Duct Cleaners Association or NADCA and The Environmental Protection Agency or EPA recommends that the entire HVAC system should be cleaned.

Duct cleaning is not a trade that is regulated in the State of Maryland.

This means that anyone can perform this service with absolutely no experience, certifications or training.  So it should be a priority to find a NADCA certified contractor.

The NADCA and the EPA recommends that not only the air ducts be cleaned but that the entire system be serviced for:

  • Register cleaning
  • Heat exchanger cleaning
  • Supply air ducts cleaning
  • Return air ducts cleaning
  • Grille and diffuser cleaning
  • Heating and cooling coil cleaning
  • Fan motors/fan housing cleaning
  • Air handling unit housing cleaning
  • Condensate drain pan cleaning (drip pans)

NADCA members must have the following:

  • HVAC Air Systems Cleaning Specialist on staff
  • $500,000 of liability insurance
  • Clean according to NADCA standards and comply with their Code of Ethics.
